Oslo Views – Urban

Here are some snaps of buildings and neighborhoods around central Oslo — or what I, who live in the ‘burbs, think of as downtown or “urban” Oslo.

Colorful apartment blocks in the Gamlebyen neighborhood of Oslo

A view of the new Munch museum (the taller building) called Lambda and the newly built neighborhood on the water, Bispevika

Some spring blossoms brighten up this facade in Pilestredet Park

Graffiti on the Sørenga bro with Magritte-esque clouds

A cruise ship parked in port near Sørengakaia during lockdown on a foggy day

A colorful moving van is parked outside Vannkunsten, a newly built series of canal-access apartments in Bispevika

A blue building with a corner on Vestfoldgata in Gamle Oslo

Pruned trees stand guard around this villa in Frogner

The Akrobaten pedestrian bridge provides access over the tracks of Oslo’s central train station

An alternative view of the new Munch museum building, Lambda, on a foggy winter day cold enough that the fjord here is frozen

A view down towards Oslo’s National Theatre from Slottsparken

Some bright, cheery flowers adorn these balconies in Gamle Oslo

Not all buildings downtown are stone, brick or concrete: these old wooden houses line a street in Kampen

An old brick factory turned into residences on Tullins Gate in a neighborhood north of Slottsparken

Of course I had to include an image that showcases part of Oslo’s Opera – now with all sorts of new, modern buildings as its neighbors

A brick building in Uranienborg with Oslo city (rental) bikes available adjacent

A riot of color is found coating the apartment blocks on Myklegardgata in Gamle Oslo

On a cold but sunny spring day, a handful of people lounge on the brygge that surrounds Vannkunsten in Bispevika

A view of one of the new residences in Sørenga through thick fog

Walls and walls (and walls) of graffiti cover these buildings in Kværner

More trees in bloom in central Oslo, in this case along the Bar Code

A final view of (part) of the new Munch museum

A yellow corner in Frogner
