Fall Break – Water Features

While we stayed in the Norwegian mountains of Vestlandet last October, we not only stopped to explore some sights on our way to and from Voss, our home-base, we also took some day-trips during the week.

During our trip, I took a number of “running water” shots, including waterfalls of varying sizes. In many cases, the volume of water wasn’t as great as one might find with the spring snow-melt, but I always enjoy water-on-the-go, even if it’s just a trickle.

Here are some images of water features captured over our fall break.

Water trickles down one of the sides of Bordalsgjelet, a gorge in Voss

Downstream in Bordalsgjelet

Huldra dancing at the (very anemic) Kjosfossen in Flåmsdalen (this is the least amount of water I’ve ever seen there)

Another trickle of water in Flåmsdalen

Waterfalls seen while zig-zagging on the hairpins of upper Flåmsdalsvegen

Twin falls of Skjervefossen in the distance, along the Hardanger Norwegian Scenic Route

A baby waterfall across from the popular Vøringsfossen in Eidfjord

Whenever we drive through Hemsedal, we always pull off the road to enjoy the unmissable Hydnefossen

Falling water near the village of Gudvangen

Looking down on Vøringsfossen (the big one on the right) it’s hard to appreciate the spectacle of the waterfall form this angle
