While we were on the Swedish island of Gotland last August, we explored more ruins, this time outside the city of Visby.
In one small village, we saw the remains of the Lau kastalbackn, which dates back to the 1100s and originally functioned as a defensive building. In the 13th and 14th centuries it was restructured for use as a clergy house and, as such, is also known also as Lau Prästgårdsruin.
We also visited the Roma kungsgård, which features the ruins of a 12th century cistercian monastery known as Roma kloster. There was more to see at this location, as the original structure seems as though it was much more substantial than that of the Prästgårdsruin.
Here are some images from the ruins we visited in Lau and Roma on the island of Gotland last summer.

Those arches are amazing. I am mystified at how they defy gravity. It seems like there is loads to see on Gotland.
