Gotland – Lau Kyrka

When we visited the Swedish island of Gotland for a week last August, we took a quick peek in and around Lau Church (Lau kyrka), which was just adjacent to some old ruins included in a recent post.

The stone version of the church that remains largely unchanged today was built in the early 13th century and is one of the largest medieval country churches on the island. I liked the shape of the church, its copper roof (which I imagine was put in place during a renovation back in the late 1950s), its doors and entryways, and windows.

Here are a few images I took in and around Lau Kyrka on the island of Gotland last summer.
