Fall Break – Views Around the Hytte

Last fall, we rented a hytte in the Luster area of Vestland in Norway.

Only a field separated us from the Lustrafjord, the innermost arm of Sognefjorden. We also had a lovely view of Feigefossen cascading down on the opposite side of the fjord.

The newly-built hytte seems to have been situated on land formerly of Nes Gård so we had sheep and fields as our neighbours, as well as Nes kyrkje, built back in 1836.

I was glad I woke just before 5am to lovely Northern Lights. They danced earlier that evening but there were too many clouds.
This was looking east. I imagine the show was even better above the clouds and behind the mountain to the north.

  1. I am unsure whether to feel joy or jealousy reading your post. But I am so glad that you travel around so much of Norway because I get to see and revel in your glorious photographs which let me reminisce. Loved the caption bench and insect hotel! And what about that random red chair? As always this fjord looks idyllic and to catch the northern lights too. That was fortunate.
