Fall Break – Heading to Voss

Last October, we drove from Oslo to Voss, a town in the mountains of Vestlandet. On our drive through the mountain passes, we stopped to either charge, stretch our legs (or both), or merely snap a few pics as we headed through Hemsedal, Borgund and Lærdal. Here are a few images from those areas of Norway.

We’ve traveled this road many times, heading up above the tree line

  1. So beautiful, Kewtie. The golden leaves are stunning. And this is a part of Norway that I have not visited! I missed those wonderful hairpins bends.
The kings way? Is that part of the pilgrims road that runs to Nidaros?

    1. Thanks! As far as I know, The King’s Way took people in the old days from Oslo to Bergen (or vice versa 😊), in reality from Lærdal to Valderes, over the mountains. The Pilgrim Route (Pilgrimsleden) was a route to Nidarosdomen from Oslo to Trondheim. It’s called a “King’s Way” but is distinct from the roadway (Kongsvegen) I pictured in the post. There are other Pilgrim paths but all seem to end at St Olav’s tomb in Nidarosdomen.
