Spring Break – Malmö

While we spent a week based in Ystad, Sweden back in April, we decided to wander for a few hours in the city of Malmö.

We’ve been to Malmö a few times but hadn’t really explored the Västra Hamnen neighborhood before. This area, an artificial island that was once a site of industry, has been revitalised into a modern residential area over the last couple decades.

Here is a collection of images taken on a long walk from central part of Malmö over to and around Västra Hamnen on a mostly grey, rainy day back in spring.

I’m a sucker for a brick building and these curving windows put me over the edge

A much older brick building in the old town (Gamla Staden)

One of the platforms at the train station

Construction near Central Station

Looking up at someone working on high

An interesting square with a video installation of an eye

The mist and rain occlude the view of the Øresund Bridge over to Copenhagen

A lone bicycle with a misty view

A duo riding high (with the misty bridge in the distance)

A flowering tree in Slottsträdgården

The residential tower Turning Torso towers and twists above the other apartment buildings

Trees and a broken facade

Curving facade

Chaotic facade

Rectangles

Turning Torso lookup

Looking up in Sankt Petri kyrka

A closer look at the eye

Interesting windows
