Stockholm – PRIDE

We spent a quick weekend in Stockholm last summer on our way to our next travel destination.

We realized that PRIDE was in full swing and that their parade was scheduled during our stay, which was fortuitous because we had missed our local Oslo PRIDE happenings in July due to travel.

It was a hot and sunny Saturday so we were happy to find a place to watch Scandinavia’s largest PRIDE parade in the shade of an overpass. We ended up hanging out for over 2 hours, it was great fun!

Here are some images taken of the Stockholm PRIDE Parade this past August.

On our way to the parade route we saw some young people happily heading over as well

Lots of groups had big vehicles they used as a staging area for their members

Various companies sponsored floats, with employees on board (this was Ericsson)

The military had a band playing the theme from Top Gun when I first spotted them (followed by a Robyn song)

The Polis were there…

Lots of groups showed their support for Ukraine…

Even some fellow American Expats were there

You can’t have the Polis without the Ambulans peeps

The political parties were there: here was Vänsterpartiet stating that Pride IS Political

I liked these brightly dressed dancers…

Drama folk showed up

H&M had a float

I had to laugh a bit at this group

Russian Expats against war and transphobia had a presence

I guess you can’t have colorful female dancers without having colorful male dancers (with cool bells on)

There is very large support in Scandinavia for Palestine

Things were winding down after this and we took our leave before the mass exodus
