Architectural Sights – Churches

I seem to have collected a number of images of church buildings over the past couple of years.

Here is a collection of these structures, taken around parts of Norway, in Paris, London, and Aachen, Germany as well as the Gotland, and Skåne regions in Sweden — all from travels in 2024 and 2025.

  1. That’s quite a collection of churches!

I also tend to visit churches when I travel. My husband always says, ‘Are we going into another church again?’ 😊 He would like to sit on a cafe instead.

I especially liked your black and white photographs, they highlight the architectural details beautifully. Did you photograph them in black and white, or did you convert them during post-processing?

      1. I have heard the same. I have now started to shoot on monochrome. The first reaction was not wow, but I continue with that until I have learned it.

  2. Aren’t they all amazing. I am not at all a religious person but I love visiting the churches in Denmark and Norway and indeed Europe. Such character. It leaves contemporary church architecture for dead… excuse the pun!

    1. It’s the same for me. I’m not religious but am drawn to the art and architecture (and history) of many of these old churches (especially since I grew up in a place without old infrastructure). Thanks for your comment!! 😃

      1. I think that is why we both are drawn to this complex and wondrous old architecture. It is unfamiliar to us – Modern Aussies have a shorter history even than Americans. If we grew up in Europe, we would be enmeshed in the art at every turn.
