Summer Travels – Torghatten

This past summer, we spent a couple of weeks touring around various locales in Helgeland, a region of Norway roughly between the cities of Trondheim and Bodø. Our first stop was in Brønnøysund, where we spend the day hiking up and through its famous mountain, Torghatten.

Torghatten, on the island of Torget, is known for the tunnel that pierces the centre of its granite dome. A prepped path up and staircases down through the hole in the mountain makes it fairly easy, albeit steep, hike. We journeyed up through and down on a warm and sunny summer day, such that the shooting conditions were a bit difficult (for me).

Nevertheless, here are some snaps taken of our hike through Torghatten, along with a shot taken later that day from a vantage point high enough on the mainland to see through the mountain.
